This lively little fellow is a fairy creature called a Grig. He was painted (in watercolor) for a book titled
The Practical Guide to Fairies and as you can see, he has some insect-like characteristics.
Grig is a real word, used to describe a lively person. However, it is also occasionally used to describe a cricket or grasshopper so it's not hard to see how those meanings translated into this character.
I love it so much!.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing.
Thanks, Dave! You just made my day.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you go analog every once in a while. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Larry. I need to do it more often. I miss it but it's been less practical the last few years.
ReplyDeleteI love the saw-tooth insect legs. It's also perhaps a good visual pun, as he "saws" away on the fiddle. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nicholas. I hadn't thought of the visual pun but it works!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic! And I now I want to see more watercolors from you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jason. I'd like to do more watercolors. It's probably my favorite medium, although it's one of the more difficult to use.
